Seven Arrested for Embezzling Funds by Promising Foreign Employment

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 7 people on charges of embezzling funds by promising to send them to various countries with attractive salaries for foreign employment.

A police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested them from various places in Kathmandu.

Those arrested include Santosh Adhikari, 28, from Arghakhanchi, residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16; Hemant KC, 29, from Dang, residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3; Suk Dev Rai, 42, from Sunsari, residing in Budhanilkantha Municipality-11, Kathmandu; and Manish Podar, 34, also from Sunsari, residing in the same municipality-3.

Similarly, Ram Ratan Mishra, 47, from Rupandehi, residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16; Amrit Adhikari, 39, from Kaski, residing in Tokha, Kathmandu; and Mir Islamana, 35, from Rautahat, residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, have also been arrested.

According to the police, among those arrested, Santosh defrauded one victim of 1 million rupees by promising to send them to Greece, Hemant defrauded one victim of 1.33 million rupees by promising to send them to Croatia, and Suk Dev defrauded two victims of 1.3 million rupees by promising to send them to Serbia.

Likewise, Manish defrauded one victim of 200,000 rupees by promising to send them to the UK, Ram defrauded one victim of 230,000 rupees by promising to send them to the UAE, Amrit defrauded one victim of 350,000 rupees by promising to send them to Azerbaijan, and Mir became out of contact after taking 1.263 million rupees from one victim by promising to send them to the UK.

Based on the complaints of the victims, during the search by the police, Santosh and Hemant were arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 on Wednesday, and Suk Dev was arrested from Budhanilkantha Municipality-11 on Thursday.

The police stated that the remaining accused, Manish, was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12, Ram from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, Amrit from Tokha, Kathmandu, and Mir from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 on Friday. All those arrested have been sent to the Foreign Employment Department, Tahachal, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and action.
