Government decides to postpone land ordinance

Kathmandu, March 4 — The government has decided not to move forward with the land-related ordinance.
Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), Mahesh Bartaula, informed that tomorrow, the government will present five other ordinances in the House of Representatives, excluding the land-related ordinance.
After failing to gain support from some of the ruling parties, the government has decided to step back on the land-related ordinance.
Bartaula stated that the decision to move forward with the five other ordinances was made after discussions with Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal.
"Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will meet. We are preparing to include this issue on the agenda in today’s meeting of the Business Advisory Committee," Bartaula said.
In a central committee meeting of JSP Nepal, which started on Sunday, a proposal was made to reject the land-related ordinance under any circumstances.
The ruling Loktantrik Samajbadi Part has also disagreed with this ordinance leading to the government's decision to step back.
