Bir Hospital to offer surgery services in two shifts

Kathmandu, February 28 — The Bir Hospital will start offering surgeries in two shifts from next week.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, made this announcement during the weekly briefing held on Friday.

Dr. Budhathoki mentioned that with the arrangement of necessary manpower, laboratory facilities, and equipment, the hospital will now expand its services to two shifts.

He also stated that MRI services at the hospital would be increased, allowing up to 200 people to access them per month. 

Furthermore, he highlighted that 484 non-functional devices across 17 federal hospitals in the country had been repaired and put back into operation. 

"Following the direction of the honorable Health Minister, arrangements have been made to provide surgical services at the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bir Hospital, in two shifts daily starting from next week," he said.

"Additionally, to enhance service facilities, laboratory equipment and personnel have been added, and the MRI service capacity has been increased to allow more than 200 patients per month," Budhathoki added.

Dr. Budhathoki also assured that vaccines provided through the government's national vaccination program are safe and effective.

He further mentioned that a 9-point agreement has been made between the Ministry of Health and Nepal Medical Association to address the demands of protesting doctors.
