Prachanda admits weakening relationship between Maoists and the public

Kathmandu, January 24 — Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has admitted that the relationship between the Maoist party and the people has weakened.

Speaking at an event on Friday in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-8, Dang, he acknowledged that the party has become weaker after abandoning the issues of the same class and community for which the Maoists fought the People's War.

He mentioned, "We moved forward in the People's War with the issues of those very classes and communities, and now we are committed to advancing their issues again."

He added, "Our relationship with the people has weakened a bit. We fought the revolution for the rights of certain classes and communities, but their demands and issues have become weaker. We need to correct this. We must also increase interaction and strengthen relationships with the families of martyrs, missing, and injured fighters."

He emphasized, "Yesterday, we fought for the demands and issues of those communities in the People's War, and now we must return to those communities. We are running a campaign to return to all classes and communities. I have declared the martyrs of the people's war and people's movement as national martyrs and published them in the official gazette. I am satisfied with this."

During the event, Prachanda and other leaders had a meal prepared by the martyr families, which included dishes from the Tharu community. During the people's war, Chaudhary's family lost six members.
