Province Power Equation Likely Between CPN (UML) and Maoist Center

The Maoist Center's chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' seems to be particularly talking about moving forward in cooperation with UML. In this situation, the Nepali Congress, which registered a no-confidence motion against UML's parliamentary party leader and Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel in Karnali Province, has become stressed. Congress, which has been in alliance with UML since July 2081, recalled its ministers from the government on Wednesday. While maintaining its support, it suddenly registered a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Kandel on Thursday, in alliance with the Maoist Center, which is in opposition. Furthermore, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has been proposed as the Chief Minister. While forming a power equation with the Maoist Center in the province, Congress is currently agitated by the discussions of an alliance between UML and the Maoist Center in the center. Congress leaders and MPs in the province are saying that if they cooperate with the Maoist Center in the province, they should not cooperate with UML under any circumstances. They are thinking in a way that if an alliance is formed between the Maoist Center and UML in the center, they will have to sit in the opposition. Congress Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Hikmat Bahadur Bisht said that the no-confidence motion was registered after mutual consultation with the Maoist Center. 'Currently, various kinds of groundwork are heard to be happening in the center, sometimes talks of communist proximity, sometimes of forming a coalition government of three parties,' he told Ratopati. 'But what will happen in the center? We have to see what the Maoist Center will do.' According to him, during the registration of the no-confidence motion by Congress in the province, discussions were also held with Maoist Center leaders Mahendra Shahi, Chandra Bahadur Shahi, and Bimla KC. 'They have met with our leaders, and further discussions will take place after they return from Kalikot,' he said. 'We also have a parliamentary party meeting tomorrow, after which further matters will be clarified.' Regarding the increasing possibility of Prachanda and Oli uniting in the center, he said, 'If they (UML and Maoist Center) unite in the center, we will sit in the opposition, what else can be done?' He stated that if the Maoist Center-Congress agreement holds and the no-confidence motion is passed, the Chief Minister will have to resign. He said that regardless of the equation in the center, the possibility of Congress and Maoist Center uniting in Karnali depends on the Maoist Center. 'We are ready, it depends on the leaders and MPs of the Maoist Center, if they say let's unite for Karnali, we are ready,' Bisht added. 'We are firm in the commitment we have made from our side, and there will be no dishonesty from our side. But if they back down, we can do nothing.' However, he said that Congress will not cooperate with UML in the province under any circumstances. He said that it would be possible if all three parties formed the government in the center, but there is no possibility of only Congress and UML uniting. Meanwhile, although they previously supported bringing a no-confidence motion against the UML Chief Minister, they are currently agitated by the discussions happening in the party center. Maoist Center Parliamentary Party leader Mangal Bahadur Shahi said that no decision or directive has been received from the party center so far.
