Photo Feature: TU celebrates 50th convocation ceremony
Kathmandu, December 28 — Tribhuvan University (TU) held its 50th convocation ceremony on Saturday at the Dasarath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
The ceremony was celebrated as a golden jubilee, marking 50 years of the convocation, as explained by the Controller of Examinations at TU, Pushparaj Joshi.
This year, 14,308 students participated in the convocation. Examination Controller Joshi mentioned that 2,000 more students were conferred degrees this year compared to the previous year.
Among the graduates, 9,068 students received their Bachelor's degrees, 5,055 received their Master's degrees, 63 were conferred M.Phil degrees, and 122 were awarded Ph.D. degrees.
"Last year, we set a record by conferring the highest number of degrees, which was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records," he said. During the ceremony, awards were distributed in 17 different categories.
Senior agricultural scientist Dr. Ramprasad Yadav was the chief guest at the convocation.
The event was attended by Tribhuvan University’s Chancellor and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidya Bhattarai, as well as students and parents.
