US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Claims Iran is Begging for a New Deal

Washington DC. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that Iran is begging for a new deal with America, directly and indirectly. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, he signaled that President Donald Trump's policy towards Iran would be even tougher.

According to Rubio, Iran has repeatedly proposed talks to the United States. "Iran is begging us, saying directly and indirectly, let's make a deal. Let's talk. Let's discuss," he said. He accused Iranian leaders of violating those agreements or trying to change their terms later every time the US and Iran reached a ceasefire or other agreement.

Rubio also warned that Iran would have to pay a heavy price continuously if it did not change its behavior. According to him, the damage Iran has to bear is increasing with the military actions the US takes every night. He stated that President Trump sees no need to take Iran's proposals for talks positively in the current situation. According to Rubio, Iran has not yet shown willingness to enter into an agreement that it is prepared to abide by.

Rubio's statement came just hours after Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently stated that Iran's defense policy is an eye for an eye. Araghchi had warned that any attack on Iran's infrastructure would be met with a powerful and decisive response.

In this context, Rubio mentioned that President Trump's policy is even tougher than Iran's rhetoric, commenting that it is an eye for a head.
