Police Arrest Five for Counterfeit Ayurvedic Oil Production

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 5 people on charges of producing counterfeit Ayurvedic Silver Warm Therapy oil. The Valley Crime Investigation Office raided a warehouse of counterfeit oil and recovered a large quantity of oil.

Counterfeit oil and packing covers were recovered by raiding Kalanki, Bagbazar in Kathmandu and Tikathali in Lalitpur, said SSP Santosh Khadka of the Valley Crime Investigation Office. Those arrested include Ram Prasad Pokharel from Pyuthan, Iitman Tamling Limbu from Khewang, Taplejung, and his brother Buddhiman Tamling Limbu, among 5 people.

Ayurvedic oil is used for massage, claiming to relieve pain. Police have also recovered counterfeit Silver Warm Therapy oil and nutmeg mixed oil. SSP Khadka informed that the accused are being investigated under the Black Market and Consumer Protection Act.

The investigation office team recovered about 50,000 pieces of covers used for counterfeit oil from Bagbazar while it was being printed.
