Cooperative fraud: Case set to be filed today against RSP president Lamichhane
Kathmandu, December 22 — A case is set to be filed today in the District Court of Kaski against Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane.
Along with the former Home Minister Lamichhane, five other individuals are also facing charges in a case involving cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering, which is being filed by the District Government Attorney's Office in Kaski.
In the Surydarshan Cooperative case, the Government Attorney's Office had filed charges on Friday against the then-chairman of the cooperative and the chairman of Galaxy 4K Television, GB Rai, along with 19 others.
The remaining defendants are scheduled to have their cases filed today.
All 19 defendants in the filed case on Friday are currently absconding.
The charges against the 19 individuals include a financial claim of NPR 1.5 billion.
In the previous charges, the claim was NPR 1.1 billion, and only the cooperative fraud case was filed.
Among the 19 defendants, 16 have additional charges related to the cooperative act, while the remaining two face charges of organized crime.
GB Rai faces charges related to cooperative fraud, money laundering, organized crime, and offenses under the central bank law.
