Speaker calls for increasing effectiveness of parliament's roles

Kavrepalanchow, December 22 — Speaker Devraj Ghimire has stressed the need to ensure an atmosphere to see clarifications from member(s) in the Committee for Legislation Management provided that a situation arrives for postponing the Committee's meeting in absence of a quorum.

In his address to a two-day review programe on the Secretariat in the operations of House of Representatives' session and management, the Speaker urged all the stakeholders concerned to think about consequences of the postponement of Committee's meeting for long.

He expressed his concern over what he said the lack of effectiveness in the roles of the Federal Parliament's in the Committee's deliveries.

The Speaker also expressed his concern over the culture of registering an ordinance in the eleventh hour of the parliament session without an adequate coordination with lawmakers.

He said he also faced complications in exercising the rights of Speaker as well.

An atmosphere should be built so that decision(s) of Speaker will be implemented.

Deputy Speaker Indira Rana highlighted the roles of all to operate the parliament effectively.
