Increased activity in Kathmandu Valley during Dashain this year
Kathmandu, October 13 — This year, Kathmandu Valley has experienced a noticeable increase in activity during the Dashain festival compared to previous years. The streets of Kathmandu, which are usually deserted by the time of Fulpati, have been bustling with more people than in the past.
Following continuous rainfall during the last week of September, which caused landslides and damaged many roads leading out of the valley, fewer people have left Kathmandu this year, contributing to the increased activity.
Due to this hustle and bustle, there has been a noticeable rise in both public and private vehicles on the roads. The traffic police office has reported that more vehicles are on the streets this year compared to last.
Although the damaged roads have been repaired, transportation entrepreneurs have noted that only a limited number of travelers have left the capital this year. While it was expected that around 2 million people would leave Kathmandu for the festival, only approximately 1.3 million have done so.
