Lost Dog Found 642 Miles Away After Five Years

Nebraska. A dog that disappeared five years ago from the US state of Nebraska has been found 642 miles away.

This incident, made possible with the help of social media and a microchip, has been called a miracle by the dog's owner family. Inmakulada Jackman's pet dog Chong disappeared from her home in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2021. Since then, she never stopped searching for her dog. According to her, the family repeatedly went to the old settlement and kept searching to see if Chong was seen walking with anyone or around.

After disappearing, someone had implanted a microchip in Chong's body. Although it is not yet clear how he got there, he was eventually found behind a truck stop in the state of Indiana, USA. When the staff of the local animal shelter scanned the microchip, the information in it helped them reach Chong's real family.

When a friend sent her a Facebook post about this incident, she immediately contacted the animal shelter. The shelter staff said they were waiting for the people who might have taken care of Chong earlier to contact them. After three days, after completing the legal process, Chong was handed over to his own family again.

Not only Inmakulada Jackman went to pick up Chong, but Chong's other dog friend Che Che also went to Indiana. The family said the reunion after five years was emotional. 'Never give up hope. We succeeded in finding our Chong even after five years,' Inmakulada Jackman said after the dog was found. Chong has now safely returned to his home in Lincoln, Nebraska with his family.
