Conflict-affected groups demand revisions to TRC bill (Photos)
Kathmandu, August 22 – Several organizations affected by the conflict held a demonstration in New Baneshwar, calling for corrections to the transitional justice amendment bill. These organizations, advocating for truth, justice, and reparations, are urging the National Assembly to amend the bill that was passed by the House of Representatives.
The protesters argue that the amendment bill should address crimes such as murder, mutilation, torture, and other severe human rights violations outlined in the Peace Agreement, Interim Constitution, and existing laws. They are demanding that the bill be revised to provide a legal framework for prosecuting these crimes and ensuring that victims' rights are upheld.
Participating organizations include the National Network of Conflict Victims, National Network of Disabled Conflict Victims, National Struggle Committee of Maoist Victims, Disappeared Family Society, Nepal Conflict Affected Concern Center Dang, Conflict Victims Society for Justice, Nepal Maoist Victims Association, Conflict Management and Displaced Concerns Center, Conflict Victims Disabled Association Dolakha, and the Bandarmudhe Incident Victims Concerns Committee.
