Kathmandu, August 22 - Tribhuvan University has decided to appoint part-time lecturers on a contract basis. The decision was made during a meeting of the Tribhuvan University Executive Council on August 7, which agreed to hire these part-time teachers as teaching assistants under contract.
Permanent, temporary, and contract teachers at all 62 campuses and central departments of the university have taken on their full class loads. The university will now proceed with appointing teaching assistants to fill vacant positions based on the remaining class loads.
A committee, led by Professor Dr. Ramakrishna Tiwari, was established to recommend appropriate measures. Based on this committee's report, an agreement was reached on July 30 between the Central Struggle Committee of the Part-Time Lecturers’ Association and the Dialogue and Suggestion Committee.
According to the agreement, part-time lecturers will be appointed as teaching assistants on a contract basis.
A three-member on-site study team will be formed to oversee this process. The team’s report will guide the development of procedures for appointing teaching assistants and manage the appointment process through the relevant campus or central department.
Iman Singh Bohra, head of the Secretariat of the TU Senate and Executive Council, stated that the appointment process will adhere to the university’s rules and regulations.
