Peace monument in memory of those killed in people's war

 

Rolpa,  A peace monument is to be built in memory of the Rolpa people who lost their lives and disappeared in a decade-long armed conflict. 
A foundation stone was laid for the construction of monument at Liwang of Rolpa. District Coordination Committee Chief Raj Bahadur Budha, Rolpa municipality Chief Purna KC and Tula Bali, who lost her husband durign insurgency, jointly laid the foundation stone on Thursday. 
The peace monument will be constructed at the cost of Rs 550,000. In doing so, Rolpa municipality has provided Rs 150,000 and Human Rights and Legal Service Centre, Rolpa aided Rs 400,000. 
As many as 970 people from state and rebel side had lost their lives and 33 are still missing in Rolpa during the armed struggle. Rolpa had witnessed the highest loss of lives and properties during the period.
