Deuba, Poudel factions in separate discussion to select candidates

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Factions within the ruling Nepali Congress, one headed by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other by leader Ram Chandra Poudel, are currently holding discussions to select candidates from their side for upcoming 14th General Convention of the party.

The Deuba-led faction is holding its meeting at Budhanilkantha while Poudel-faction has sat for discussion at Battisputali.

As PM Deuba himself is vying for the post of party’s president, the faction is discussing to elect candidates for office bearers while Poudel-faction is holding a meeting to select a common candidate against PM Deuba through a consensus.

Even if leaders Ram Chandra Poudel and Shashank Koirala withdraw their decision to file their candidacy for the post of President of the party, leaders Prakash Man Singh and Shekar Koirala have been reluctant to vie for the post.
