Philippines Earthquake: 3 Dead, 5 Injured, 37 Buildings Damaged

Manila. Police have confirmed that at least 3 people have died in the earthquake that occurred in the Philippines on Monday. It is reported that 5 more people have been injured.

It is reported that 37 buildings were damaged in the earthquake. Most of these are commercial buildings. A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Monday morning.

Tsunami waves have been recorded in the southern parts of the Philippines after the powerful earthquake. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), tsunami waves were measured at 6 locations in Mindanao.

According to the institute, the affected areas are mainly in the southern coastal areas of Mindanao. Waves were observed from 7:42 AM to 8:45 AM local time. The largest wave recorded was 1.4 meters high.

Phivolcs has stated that the tsunami warning issued for the Philippines is still in effect. Authorities have urged residents of coastal areas to remain vigilant and follow government instructions. Phivolcs has stated that 138 aftershocks were recorded until 11 AM local time.

The intensity of the aftershocks ranged from 1.3 to 6.7 magnitude. Seismologists have urged caution, stating that more aftershocks may occur in the coming hours and days.
