Youth leaders give ultimatum of Dec 9 to Poudel, Koiralas, Singh to select candidate for party Prez through consensus

KATHMANDU, December 7: Youth leaders in the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) have sought a single candidate from among leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, Dr Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh and Dr Shekar Koirala for the post party’s president in the of upcoming 14th General Convention by December 9.

The youths leaders have announced to decide their own panel if the leaders fail to come up with a single candidate for the post of party’s president amidst an interaction program organized by Dr Shekar Koirala on Monday.

“We don’t want our votes to get divided among our own panel. The inauguration of the National Congress of the party is scheduled for December 10, so we cannot wait ahead of December 9,” Gagan Thapa said.

All the four key leaders of Poudel-faction including Dr Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh and Dr Shekar Koirala have shown their interest in vying for the post of party’s president in the upcoming General Convention.
