CM Poudel stresses for proper methodologies in project selection

Kathmandu - Chief Minister of Bagmati State, Dormani Poudel, today said that problems have surfaced to advance development works for lack of proper methodologies in project selection. In the first quarterly review of the current fiscal year of the Provincial Policy and Planning Commission of Bagmati Province and Provincial Development Problem Resolution Committee, Chief Minister Poudel mentioned that there was no adequate coordination among inter-governmental, inter-ministerial and inter-agencies in project selection and budget allocation due to a traditional mindset.

Saying that all the stakeholders are well familiar about the problems, he stressed that all have to contribute to improve the traditional way of working from their respective areas. The CM stated that the Bagmati Province Government has carried out activities in all sectors including roads, bridges and health sector.

Similarly, Vice-Chairperson of National Planning Commission, Prof Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel, pointed out the need of coordination between ministries and governments and proactive roles for coordination from the respective sectors. Saying COVID-19 has affected the development works, he expressed the view that all bodies should play appropriate role to lessen losses as the economy could decline this year. Likewise, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Bagmati Province Kailash Dhungel and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Rameshwor Phuyal also expressed their views at the event.
