Kirtipur Holding Centre Residents Protest Lack of Food

Kathmandu. Citizens of the slum settlement residing at the Kirtipur Holding Centre have become agitated due to the lack of food arrangements. They have started protesting, claiming that the state has snatched away their right to food, having been deprived of basic necessities for a long time. The daily lives of families taking shelter at the holding centre have become very difficult due to the escalating food crisis. With no means to sustain themselves, they have been compelled to come out in protest with their demands. The lack of food has also severely impacted the education of children there. Due to the situation of having to go hungry, children of school-going age have also been prevented from attending school. The citizens of the slum settlement have accused the concerned bodies of ignoring their problems. Small children, the elderly, and lactating mothers are the most affected due to the lack of proper management and relief arrangements at the holding centre.
