Bharatpur Metropolitan City provides bicycles to 27 needy girl students

Kathmandu - The Bharatpur Metropolitan City has provided bicycles to 27 girl students living in the metropolis' ward no. 9 belonging to the economically poor families and who have to cover long way to get to school. The bicycles have been given to the needy girl students as part of the 'Mayor with the Women at Risk Programme' launched by the metropolis to support the girl students from the target community so that they can continue their school education.

Handing over the bicycles to the girls, Mayor Renu Dahal said bicycles would be distributed to 330 girl students at 12 wards of the metropolis this year. Before this, bicycles were distributed to the needy girl students at ward no. 24, 25, 26, 13, 14, 22 and 23 among others in the metropolis.

Meanwhile, the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has come up with the concept of continuing the teaching-learning activities in schools through online and power-point medium. It has allocated more than Rs 90 million from its internal resources towards education development. In this connection, Mayor Dahal said, the metropolis has expedited the work of installing internet at all schools while it has provided one laptop to every school.
