Child dies in Nagma dry landslide

Kathmandu - Three houses collapsed in a dry landslide occurred at Nagma bazaar where a child died on the spot. The landslide occurred at Nagma bazaar at the border of Jumla and Kalikot district on Sunday morning buried a 5-year-old boy Nirajan Shahi, according to DSP Shyam Oliya in the District Police Office.

"Arjun Hamal, 13, and Punya Shahi, 35, were rescued alive," he said, adding that detailed information is awaited as it was difficult to make phone contact. However, a police team mobilized from the district headquarters was involved in rescue. The place of the landslide is along the Kalikot section of Karnali Highway. Similarly, Chief of District Police Office, Jumla, DSP Lal Bahadur Dhami informed that those rescued alive were being taken to the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences. He also said detailed information on human loss was yet to come.
