Farmers on sleepless night after warthogs damage crops

Kathmandu - Farmers in various local levels of Dailekh district have been worried over the menace of warthog of late. As the herd of warthogs has been damaging crops, the farmers here are on sleepless night for quite a while. The paddy, maize, millet and other crops of harvest time are damaged by the vermin.
As a result, the villagers are forced to stay awake throughout the night. A local from Bhairabi-1 Dil Bahadur Karki said, "We are staying awake in groups stationing in the field.

It is difficult to protect the harvest time crops." Bhairabi and Mahabu Rural Municipalities and Dullu, Narayan and Athbis Municipalities have witnessed the damages of crops by the warthogs. There is no better option that staying awake throughout night to protect the cereals.

Prem Giri from Dullu Municpality-3 said despite the vigil, the herds of wild animals are damaging the crops. "Not only protection of crops, we also need to stay cautious to stay away from the attack of warthogs in the night," he added. The farmers complained that no concerned authority had ever paid heed to this problem. The local levels have not shown attention to solve this pestering.
