Bhaktapur–Lawmaker and former minister Mahesh Basnet today said the incumbent government has launched a campaign against criminalisation within politics.

Viewing that politics should be on the right track to save the country from being spoiled, he said efforts were on in this regard.

The government has been on a way to rid the society of crimes, establish peace and bring prosperity, he said. He was speaking at an event organised at Duwakot in Bhaktapur to exchange well-wishes on the occasion of Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath festivals.

Committing to help hold by-elections for State Assembly scheduled to take place in Bhaktapur constituency 1 on November 30 in a fair manner, he said the person, who is committed to following principle of Nepal Communist Party and the aim of late Hari Sharan Lamichhane, would be selected as a candidate for the post.
