Productive govt. initiatives and investment for quality education: President Bhandari

Kathmandu–President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the government's investment in the education sector should be result-oriented.

"The government's initiatives and investment for achieving quality education through reforms in the curriculum and pedagogy should be productive," she said.

President Bhandari was addressing a function held to distribute the Nepal Bidya Bushan medal and Nepal Girl Student Bidya medal at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal niwas this morning.

The programme was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to mark the 40th National Education Day and International Literacy Day.

Stating that socio-economic transformation, employment and technology, good conduct, and research-oriented education are the need of the day, the President expressed the hope that the ongoing reforms in policies would help enhance the quality of education in the country. "Coordination and collaboration between the federation, province and local level will help consolidate the public education system," Bhandari added.

Also speaking at the function, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel said transformation in public education is a high priority for the government and is working to create an atmosphere where the graduates can contribute by working in the country itself.
