Next few weeks are challenging for Nepal: Health Ministry
20 districts asked to tighten ongoing prohibitory orders
KATHMANDU, May 18: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has said that the people are still defying prohibitory orders enforced by the local administrations despite the rising fears of the second wave of the coronavirus disease triggered by the new variant of the virus.
Issuing a statement on Monday, the ministry said that public movement has decreased by only 59 percent. “Studies have shown that people are still found not abiding by the necessary public health protocols.”
According to the ministry, next few weeks are still challenging for Nepal in its fight against the deadlier strain.
Meanwhile, 20 districts including Kathmandu, Rupandehi, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Morang and Kailali are asked to tighten the ongoing prohibitory orders. Similarly, district administration in Kaski, Banke, Dang, Chitwan, Surkhet, Jhapa, Kanchanpur, Makwanpur, Dhanusha, Kavrepalanchowk, Sunsari, Parsa, Bardiya and Palpa need to implement restriction orders effectively.
