Constitutional amendment to proceed as per NC-UML agreement, says govt spokesperson

Kathmandu, January 10 — Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has clarified that the agreement between the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) regarding constitutional amendments will not be altered.

While announcing the Cabinet decisions at Singha Durbar on Friday, spokesperson Gurung stated that the constitutional amendment process will proceed as per the agreement between the two parties, and assured that no actions would be taken to undermine the agreement.

He also mentioned that the constitutional amendment process might take some time due to its lengthy procedure, which the Prime Minister may have alluded to.

Gurung emphasized that the two parties would first identify the necessary amendments and then discuss them with other political parties. He added that the constitutional amendment should move forward as part of a national agenda, which may require some time.

Additionally, he assured that pending bills in Parliament would be discussed with other parties and expedited as soon as possible.
