Rabi Lamichhane to appear in Kathmandu District Court today

Kathmandu, January 10 — Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, who was granted bail in the embezzlement case related to the Suryadarshan Cooperative’s savings in Pokhara, is scheduled to appear in the Kathmandu District Court today.

Manish Jha, the acting spokesperson of the RSP, informed that Lamichhane will appear in court today as there is another cooperative-related case against him in Kathmandu.

After being released from court on Thursday, Lamichhane was sent for a health check-up at Fishtail Hospital in Pokhara, and then handed over to his family's custody. Following the court's order, he was released from the custody of the Kaski police after paying a bail of NPR 6.5 million.

Along with Lamichhane, six other defendants in the case were also released on bail.

According to Kaski District Court registrar Rajan Khanal, Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachaai, Rambahadur Khanal, Krishnabhadur Gurung, and Aarati Gurung were released after paying their respective bail amounts.

On Thursday, Judge Nitij Rai's bench ordered the release on bail of the accused with the following amounts: NPR 6.5 million for Lamichhane, NPR 8.8 million for Chhabilal Joshi, NPR 3.7 million for Leela Pachaai, NPR 500,000 for Meena Gurung, NPR 1.5 million for Rambahadur Khanal, NPR 500,000 for Aarati Gurung, and NPR 100,000 for Krishnabhadur Gurung.

However, defendant Leela Pachaai is still in custody as she was unable to pay the bail amount.
