Dewanaganj Rural Municipality Declares Two Days Mourning After Fatal Clash

Kathmandu. Dewanaganj Rural Municipality has given two days mourning leave after one person died from police firing in a clash between two sides in Sunsari's Dewanaganj Rural Municipality.

On Sunday night, police fired to control a clash between two communities in Kapantaganj market in Dewanaganj Rural Municipality-3, resulting in one death and 22 injuries including police personnel. Expressing sorrow over the incident, the rural municipality decided to give mourning leave on Monday and Tuesday for two days.

Om Prakash Mehta, 24, of Kapantaganj, Dewanaganj Rural Municipality-3, died during treatment from police firing in the incident. The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a 5-member investigation committee on Monday to investigate the incident, while locals broke the curfew and protested on Monday.
