Minister Paudel Pledges Commitment to Himalayan Conservation and Sustainable Tourism

Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadakraj Paudel has stated that the government is fully committed to the conservation of the Himalayas, the safety of mountaineers, and the promotion of sustainable tourism. Addressing the 'Everest Summiters Summit 2026' in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister Paudel mentioned that the conservation of the Himalayan region is not just Nepal's but a shared global responsibility.

Minister Paudel praised the courage and determination of the Sagarmatha climbers. He depicted the 'Presidential Breakfast' organized during the summit and the climbers' oath-taking ceremony as symbols of national pride and responsibility.

Minister Paudel expressed concern over the challenges posed by climate change and drew the international community's attention to the problem of glacier melt and the degradation of biodiversity in the Himalayan region. Recalling that the Himalayas serve as the 'Water Tower' for Asia, he emphasized the need for scientific collaboration and joint investment to preserve their existence.

He acknowledged the invaluable contribution of guides, Sherpas, rescuers, and tourism entrepreneurs in establishing Nepal as the adventure tourism hub of the world.
