Congress MP Anand Prasad Dhungana Stresses Need for Orientation Programs for National Assembly Members

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Anand Prasad Dhungana has stated that orientation programs for members are necessary to enhance the dignity of the National Assembly and make the performance of parliamentary committees effective.

Speaking at a meeting of the Legislation Management Committee on Friday, MP Dhungana mentioned that the learning process continues throughout life and expressed confidence that such programs will play a significant role in the capacity development of the MPs. 

He stated that there is a need for in-depth discussion and learning on how to advance the National Assembly in a disciplined manner and how to make committee reports qualitative and effective. Speaking about the importance of presentation and learning, MP Dhungana said, “Having knowledge is one aspect, but the style and art of presenting it is another important aspect.”

Further clarifying about skill development, he said, “Even though there are many scholars, not everyone may have the skill to present. Therefore, learning from the experience of experts is beneficial for us.”

MP Dhungana stated that conducting orientation programs by selecting experts will further refine the work of parliamentary committees.
