Netherlands Women defeat Nepal Women by 10 wickets

Kathmandu, February 5 — In the 7th match of the Nepal Women’s T20I Tri-Series, played today, at Kirtipur, the Netherlands Women’s team triumphed over Nepal Women by 10 wickets.

Nepal Women, electing bat first, set a  total of 145 runs in thei allotted 20 overs.

Captain Indu Barma top-scored for Nepal with 39 runs off 37 balls, while Puja Mahato played a crucial knock of 62 runs from 51 balls, remaining unbeaten.

However, the Nepal Women’s innings were disrupted by early wickets, with Samjhana Khadka (6 off 5 balls) and Mamta Chaudhary (1 off 5 balls) dismissed cheaply.

Rubina Chhetry contributed 20 runs off 17 balls before being dismissed, while Kabita Joshi remained not out on 7 runs from 6 balls. 

For the Netherlands, Iris Zwilling was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs, while Heather Siegers and Caroline de Lange also chipped in with a wicket each.

The Netherlands Women’s chase was led by openers Phebe Molkenboer and Sterre Kalis, who comfortably knocked off the required runs without losing any wickets.

Molkenboer made 48 runs off 49 balls, while Kalis delivered a brilliant performance, scoring an unbeaten 98 runs off 69 balls, including 11 boundaries and 2 sixes, guiding her team to a comprehensive victory with 2 balls to spare. 

Kalis’s match-winning knock earned her the Player of the Match award as she played a pivotal role in the Netherlands Women’s dominant 10-wicket victory.
