Women’s T20I Tri-Series: Nepal posts 145 runs against Netherlands
Kathmandu, February 5 — Nepal Women set a target of 146 runs for the Netherlands Women after choosing to bat first in the 7th match of the Nepal Women’s T20I Tri-Series at Kirtipur.
The Nepali innings got off to a rocky start as they lost both their openers early.
Samjhana Khadka was dismissed for 6 runs, caught behind by Babette de Leede off the bowling of Iris Zwilling.
Shortly after, Mamta Chaudhary followed her back to the pavilion for just 1 run, again caught by Leede off Zwilling's bowling, leaving Nepal at a precarious 7/2 in the third over.
The captain, Indu Barma, played a stabilizing role in the middle order, contributing a vital 39 runs off 37 balls, including 5 boundaries, before being stumped by Leede off the bowling of Eva Lynch in the 13th over.
At that point, Nepal was 85/3.
Puja Mahato stepped up and anchored the innings, scoring an unbeaten 62 runs off 51 balls, with 5 boundaries to her name, maintaining a solid strike rate of 121.56.
Her knock guided Nepal to a competitive total. Rubina Chhetry also contributed with a quick-fire 20 runs off 17 balls, but she was dismissed in the 18th over, caught by Leede off Heather Siegers’ bowling.
Kabita Joshi remained unbeaten on 7 runs off 6 balls, including a six.
The Netherlands Women’s bowling attack was led by Iris Zwilling, who took 2 wickets for 25 runs in her 4 overs.
Eva Lynch also bowled well, finishing with figures of 4 overs for 27 runs without taking a wicket.
Silver Siegers bowled 3 overs for 26 runs, while Caroline de Lange took 1 wicket for 31 runs in her 4 overs.
