NEPSE index drops by 4.45 points

Kathmandu, February 5 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index declined by 4.45 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,711 points after opening at 2,719.

The market experienced fluctuations throughout the day, but eventually settled with a slight  drop in the overall index.

Despite the downturn, the finance sector stood out, with all 15 companies in this subgroup seeing their stock prices rise.

The finance subgroup surged by 5.67 percent, providing a notable boost to the market.

On the broader scale, 113 companies saw a drop in stock prices, while 122 companies recorded gains.

Seven companies maintained steady stock prices.

Among notable changes, the prices of Saamudaayik Microfinance and Corporate Development Bank dropped by 10 percent, while Upkar Microfinance, Chhyangdi Hydropower, and Central Finance saw a 10 percent increase in their stock prices.

In total, shares worth NPR 8.95 billion were traded on Wednesday, reflecting an active market despite the overall index decline.
