Artists protest, surround Police Office, 28 arrested
KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Police have arrested 28 protestors including Tamang artists who went to surround the District Police Range Kathmandu demanding the arrest of advocate Bhagwati Pandey.
Anil Adhikari, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Range Kathmandu in Teku, informed that 28 people including 6 women were arrested. The situation became very tense during the protest, where police even fired tear gas.
Kumarsingh Ghising of Nepal Tamang Ghedung and Gyanendra Pun of Nepal Magar Association filed a complaint at the District Police Range Kathmandu saying that Advocate Pandey had made a statement belittling the Tamang community.
