Galkot– Baglung municipality has initiated imparting training to house owners and technician-mason on construction of earthquake-resilient house.

In a bid to get protected from the potential risks of earthquake, the municipality has come up with the training approach to develop quake-resist infrastructures within the municipality territory.

The municipality is providing a daylong training to local people approaching the municipality office for house construction while it has also frequently conducted mason-centric training to hone their technical skills.

The municipality on Thursday completed a weeklong training to masons aiming to produce competent human resource in the construction sector.

Engineer Gaurav Sharma, In-charge of Municipality Survey Department, said the technical training was imparted to 30 masons on the construction of quake-resist building construction with the slogan 'Strong House; Sustainable Settlements'.

The training was organised by Baglung municipality and National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET-Nepal) with financial support from USAID.

The training to the house owners and masons is expected to promote construction of earthquake-resilient infrastructures within the municipality, Sharma said.

The municipality has set a target to produce 500 competent masons for the construction of quake-proof infrastructures. ---
