World Indigenous Youth Conference Concludes

Kathmandu. The World Indigenous Youth Conference-2026 has been concluded under the organization of Indigenous Peoples Youth Federation Nepal and National Youth Council. In the conference conducted on Jestha 30 and 31, discussions, interactions, and experience sharing were held on topics related to indigenous peoples and youth, said Kiran Shrestha, Chairman of Indigenous Peoples Youth Federation Nepal.

According to him, the conference focused on discussions regarding the United Nations Declaration on Indigenous Peoples, programs of United Nations bodies, participation of indigenous youth in global forums, and concerns of indigenous peoples of Nepal.

The conference focused on strengthening the role of youth in climate justice, food security, biodiversity conservation, and environmental protection, and on preparing the World Indigenous Youth Declaration and Action Plan.

In the conference, representatives of organizations related to indigenous peoples from various regions of the country presented their views on the rights of indigenous peoples, regional and developmental challenges, the right to self-determination, and the role of youth in the indigenous movement.
