Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship Begins in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The final competition of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025/26, the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, is set to begin in Kathmandu on Tuesday. This is the final competition of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour, which has been organized by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association. The Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship will be held at Gokarna Golf Course. The organizers announced this on Sunday at a press conference held at the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) in Tripureshwor, stating that they are organizing the final competition of the season. The competition will last for four days. A cut will be applied after 36 holes in the competition, which will be played over a total of 72 holes, the organizers said. The top 18 professional and amateur golfers (who achieve the same score) who pass the cut will secure a place for the final two rounds. Ravindra Man Shrestha, President of the Nepal Professional Golfers Association, said that this competition is being organized with the largest prize money in Nepali golf to date and that the players are excited for the title. The winner will receive three lakh twenty thousand rupees and the runner-up will receive two lakh sixty thousand rupees. Players in third, fourth, and fifth place will receive one lakh sixty-two thousand, one lakh forty-five thousand, and one lakh twenty-eight thousand rupees respectively. All players who finish within the top 18 will receive cash prizes. Professional golfer Bhuvan Nagarkoti is considered a contender in the final competition of the season. He is the winner of four titles this season. This season, Bhuvan has already earned eight lakh twenty-seven thousand five hundred rupees. Niraaj Tamang has earned five lakh ninety-nine thousand eight hundred and thirty-three rupees, and Dinesh Prajapati has earned four lakh eighty-four thousand eight hundred and thirty-three rupees. Suvas Tamang, who is performing well in the DP World PGTI Tour, will also be competing. Sukrabahadur Rai is also a contender for the title. In the amateur category, Nepal's top-ranked player Sadbhav Acharya and former champion Rahul Bishwakarma can also challenge for the trophy. The Premier Golf Championship Pro-Am will be held on Asar 5. In this competition, 25 professional and 100 corporate amateur golfers will compete. This time, the total prize money for the competition is 18 lakh rupees.
