Nepali Congress Leader Shekhar Koirala Says Authoritarianism Has Begun in the Party

Biratnagar. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that authoritarianism has started in the Congress, which fought for democracy. He said this while addressing a unity gathering organized by the establishment- इतर faction of Congress in Biratnagar. 'Congress was born for the establishment of democracy and the end of authoritarianism. But, ward presidents across the country have been removed verbally. The reason given was that they did not agree to update. This is the beginning of authoritarianism,' Koirala said, 'Congress was not born for that.' He said that Congress needs to unite all forces and move forward, and that they will move forward with agreement, cooperation, and unity in that direction. 'There should be agreement, cooperation, and unity within Congress. Congress cannot move forward without unity,' Koirala said, 'When Congress is weak, democracy is weak. When Congress is weak, the country's sovereignty and integrity are weak.' Koirala urged not to chase after reactions on social media, stating that it is not a matter of concern. He said that he had to write a 5-point proposal after talking to President Gagan Thapa. However, he stated that no solution has been found even after one month of sending the proposal. He said that Congress cannot move forward in the current situation.
