Kathmandu– Indra Prasad Adhikari has been elected the president of the Nepal Library Association (NLA). Adhikari is also the chief of Tribhuvan University central library.
Similarly Sudip Dhakal (vice president), Reshma Dangol (general secretary), Saroj Gaire (joint secretary) and Rita Sharma (treasurer) are other faces on the new executive committee. The election for the new leadership was held on January 19.
Govinda Chaulagain, Basanta Poudel, Kendra Phombo, Sushma Basnet. Shailendra Kumar Gupta and Ritesh Newa have been elected as members. The Association is an alliance of professional librarians.
The newly elected chair highlighted the importance of library in view of spreading knowledge thorough both formal and non-formal ways in the society, pledging to coordinate with the government to establish library at every local level.
