Two killed after getting swept away by swollen rivers
Hetauda - At least two persons have died after getting swept away by swollen rivers in Bakaiya and Bagmati rural municipalities here in Makawanpur district, according to local authorities.
The deceased have been identified as Pancha Kumar Kumal, 50, of Phaparbari of Bagmati – 1 and Bir Bahadur Dhalan, 60 of Bakaiya – 6, said District Police Office, Makawanpur.
Meanwhile, multiple landslides this morning at Bagjora section of Tribhuvan highway, Manhari, Lothar and Thanbhanjyang sections along the Hetauda – Narayanghat route and Ratamate section along the Hetauda – Birgunj route have obstructed vehicular movement along Hetauda – Birgunj and Hetauda – Narayanghat routes, according to Makawanpur's Chief District Officer (CDO), Narayan Prasad Sharma Dawadi.
The technical team with dozers has been mobilized to remove the landslide debris. If the weather clears the transportation along all the blocked routes will resume by afternoon today, CDO Sharma said.
