RTI appellate against NC party office chief

Kathmandu – Bimal Kumar Sangraula of Pathari Shanischare municipality-2, Morang has registered an appellate against Chief Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) party office Krishna Prasad Poudel at National Information Commission (NIC) when his RTI request was not entertained.

In the appellate registered on Monday, Sangraula said he came up with the move demanding NIC for issuing appropriate order to the NC office Chief Secretary Poudel in line with Article 27 of the Nepal Constitution and Clause 19 of the RTI Act-2007.

RTI requester Sangraula said he had lodged appellate when Poudel neither provided with information he demanded nor furnished written reasons behind not providing information in line with the RTI Act.

Sangraula had demanded the certified copy of the minute reflecting the date of the formation of NC’s parliamentary committee to distribute tickets to party candidates in the federal and provincial parliamentary elections held in 2074 BS.
He also demanded other several information including names of the committee members and criteria of nomination, details of NC parliamentary party meetings and decisions as well as the names of the official candidates of the party.

“I had requested information before party office chief secretary Poudel arguing that all the decisions of the party should be transparent for the consolidation and purification of the party. So, I resort to go for appellate process”, Sangraula added.
