Truck Catches Fire After Brake Failure in Dhankuta, Driver Dies

Dhankuta. The driver died when a truck caught fire after a brake failure accident on the Tamor-Corridor road section in Phalametar of Choubise Rural Municipality-4, Dhankuta. The lowbed (truck) numbered Pra 1-02-001 Ka 5363, which was carrying materials for a hydropower project from Biratnagar to Taplejung, suddenly caught fire after its brakes failed and it hit the wall of the road. A police team from the temporary police post Phalametar and the District Police Office Dhankuta reached the scene as soon as information about the incident was received. The driver, 30-year-old Bishal Rai from Bhojpur, died after being burned, although he managed to get out of the truck, which was on fire in the front part. However, the truck's co-driver, 18-year-old Sanjeev Sangraula, a resident of Myanglung Municipality-9, Tehrathum district, is safe in the accident. Further investigation into the accident is underway.
