Army Chief Honors Mukhtiyar Bhimsen Thapa on 252nd Birth Anniversary

Kathmandu. On the occasion of the 252nd birth anniversary of national luminary Mukhtiyar Bhimsen Thapa, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel has offered tributes. Today, at the Dharahara complex in Kathmandu, Chief of Army Staff Sigdel paid homage by garlanding his photograph and offering a bouquet.

On the same occasion, a ceremonial salute was presented by the Sri Ranbherav Battalion of the Nepali Army. Speaking at the memorial gathering and tribute ceremony, Chairman of the Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Foundation Prof. Dr. Prithweshwar Prasad Timilsina stated that books are being prepared with the objective of documenting the administrative reforms, foreign policy, and social activities during Bhimsen Thapa's tenure.

He mentioned that these works could be particularly important for the Nepali Army and policymakers. The foundation has already published three volumes and aims to release more documents in the coming years. It is believed that these materials will be a significant source of knowledge, especially for the younger generation and researchers. Timilsina clarified that the foundation is actively working to keep Bhimsen Thapa's contributions alive and institutionalize historical facts.

Prof. Dr. Buddhhibahadur Thapa said that the contributions made by Bhimsen Thapa and all national luminaries for the existence and national self-respect of Nepal are invaluable. He emphasized that the future generation should always be committed to preserving Nepal's self-respect by drawing inspiration from the blood shed and sacrifices made by the ancestors for the country. He also called for everyone to work together for mutual unity and development.

Speaking at the program, Baburam Singh Thapa expressed concern over the weakening sense of nationalism in the present time. He noted that in various historical periods, there have been two streams: patriots and traitors, and commented that in the current situation, the stream of patriotism has become defensive. He stated that patriots fight for the country, enduring any difficult circumstances and torture. Thapa emphasized that in the current era, all patriotic Nepalis, not based on any specific lineage or caste, must unite to save the country.

Discussing the challenges to the existence of small nations like Nepal due to the changing and complex global political situation, he said that in such a critical situation, there is no alternative but for all patriotic citizens to come forward. -News Agency Nepal
