Journalism Award Presented to Narayan Sundar Kilambu

Bhaktapur. This year's 'Harilal-Shree Lakshmi Memorial Journalism Award' has been presented to Kantipur Television journalist Narayan Sundar Kilambu. Member of Parliament Madan Krishna Shrestha presented him with the award at a program organized here today on the occasion of the fifth anniversary and twelfth general assembly of Newa Journalist National Organization.

Kilambu has been awarded the prize with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 in recognition of his contribution to the conservation of Bhaktapur's art, culture, and heritage, and to the country's education sector.

The award, established by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) photojournalist Ratna Krishna Shrestha in memory of his parents, was previously presented to journalist Krishna Prajapati.

On the occasion, MP Shrestha said that in a democracy, it is a constitutional right to be able to conserve and promote one's ethnicity, festivals, religion, customs, language, and culture.

At the program, awardee Kilambu said that for two decades, he has prioritized working at Kantipur Television on festivals, languages, cultures, and heritage conservation, which are the identities of Bhaktapur and the valley.

Award founder Shrestha informed that the award was established to highlight the importance of the journalism sector and to recognize and encourage the contribution of journalists. Madhyapur Municipality Deputy Mayor Vijay Krishna Shrestha, Nepal Journalists Association Bhaktapur Branch Chairman Sundar Shilpakar, Organization's founder Shree Krishna Maharjan, Central Representative Surendra Shrestha and Treasurer Chandra Krishna Shrestha, Organization's Bhaktapur Chairman Ramgopal Tamkhu, Chanakya College Management Committee Chairman Chandan Krishna Shrestha, and others discussed the contribution of Nepal's journalism sector to the conservation and promotion of local languages and cultures.
