Adani Group Considers Launching Airline in India

New Delhi. Indian billionaire businessman Gautam Adani's Adani Group is studying the possibility of operating a new air service, news has been published. If this plan is implemented, it is estimated that a big change can come in India's air transport market and new competition can start with the currently leading Indigo and Air India in the market.

According to Reuters, citing two sources with direct information on this matter, the Adani Group is evaluating various options. However, no final decision has been made yet. As they do not have the authority to speak publicly, those sources have refused to disclose their names. 

According to the news, the Indian government is also encouraging the Adani Group and some other big business groups to consider the possibility of operating a new airline. One reason for this is the increased scrutiny and review of the company after the Air India plane crash last year.

Similarly, when the market's largest share holder Indigo faced operational problems last December, air flights across the country were affected. After that, it is said that the government has felt the need for new companies to enter to increase competition in air services. If the Adani Group decides to operate a new airline, it will be the entry of another big player in India's rapidly expanding aviation sector.

The Adani Group has already invested heavily in infrastructure sectors including airport management. Therefore, if it enters airline operations, it is analyzed that the group can also coordinate with its existing infrastructure business. Although reactions were sought on this matter, Reuters has stated that the Adani Group has not given any official reaction as of the publication of the news.
