Bahrain and Kuwait Foil Iranian Air Attacks Amid US-Iran Tensions

Kathmandu. Bahrain and Kuwait have said that their air defense systems have foiled attempts at air attacks from Iran on Monday. Both countries have made public the information about the latest attacks amidst the ongoing military tensions between the US and Iran for more than a week.

The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran has almost been broken after attempts to force ships using the waterway towards Oman in the Strait of Hormuz to use Iranian waters. Since then, both sides have continued to attack each other.

Bahrain, where the US 'Fifth Fleet' is deployed, has stated that its air defense system has obstructed and destroyed many air attack attempts from Iran. The Kuwaiti army has also confirmed attacks from Iran.

Earlier on Monday, Iran's Revolutionary Guards had claimed to have struck US military targets in Kuwait. According to an AFP correspondent in Manama, Bahrain, explosions were heard along with sirens.

The US Embassy in Bahrain has received information about the potential risk that Iran may target some places in Manama. The embassy has urged American citizens there to be vigilant, follow the instructions of local authorities, and pay attention to security information issued by the embassy.

Despite the signing of a ceasefire and memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran this month, conflict has reignited since then. Due to the US military presence, Kuwait and Bahrain are becoming the main targets of Iranian attacks.

Bahrain has accused Iran of attacking civilians. Kuwait has also stated that Iranian attacks have occurred on water and electricity production centers and oil-related infrastructure.
