Flood Risk in 25 Districts Due to Rising Rivers

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division has stated that there is a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through 25 districts today. 

According to the flood forecasting bulletin issued by the division at 8 AM today, there is a possibility of a significant increase in the flow of small rivers in the areas of Taplejung, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Kavre, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur.

Similarly, the division projects a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through and around Makwanpur, Chitwan, Palpa, Kaski, Tanahu, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Mustang, Rukum Paschim, Doti, Bajhang, Kailali, and Kanchanpur.

The situation in major and large rivers is currently normal. According to measurements this morning, the flow of Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, and Mahakali rivers and their tributaries is below the alert level. Furthermore, the bulletin mentions that the flow of Kankai, Kamala, Babai, East Rapti, and West Rapti rivers is also within safe levels.

The division has also released a two-day forecast. According to this, there is a possibility of a sudden increase in the flow of some small rivers flowing through Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim Province tomorrow and the day after. The division has urged residents along the banks in those areas to take necessary precautions.
