Roads Blocked Across Nepal Due to Rain, Landslides

Kathmandu. Due to continuous rain in various parts of the country and subsequent floods and landslides, various main highways have been obstructed. According to Nepal Police data, many road sections in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are completely blocked.

In Koshi Province, the Mechi Highway is blocked in two places. Traffic is completely stopped due to landslides and rain in Rajdowali of Ilam and Khokse Khola of Taplejung. However, the road on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur is only one-way due to floods.

In Bagmati Province, vehicular movement has been restricted on some roads considering the potential risk of floods and landslides. Vehicles are not allowed to operate on the BP Highway in Kavre and the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur for safety reasons. Similarly, the Arniko Highway section in Jiroukilo and Kodari of Sindhupalchok is completely blocked due to landslides. The road in Kakani of Nuwakot is also blocked by a landslide.

In Gandaki Province, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung and the Arughat–Machhikhola road section in Gorkha are completely blocked due to landslides. In Lumbini Province too, the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan road in Arghakhanchi and the Ghhorahi–Thawang Shahid Highway in Rolpa are blocked due to landslides.

General public has been urged to check with the nearest police office or the Department of Roads before starting their journey and to stay safe.
