Former Bagmati Province Chief Minister Ashtalakshmi Shakya Undergoes Angioplasty

Kathmandu. Former Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Ashtalakshmi Shakya, has undergone emergency 'angioplasty' surgery due to heart problems.

The surgery of former Vice-Chairperson of CPN (UML), Shakya, was performed this morning at Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Currently, leader Shakya is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

According to Dr. Ashok Adhikari, Head of the Cardiology Department at the hospital, leader Shakya was brought to the hospital this morning due to chest pain, and upon examination, 'angioplasty' was performed due to 'heart attack (acute myocardial infarction)'.

A team including Dr. Adhikari, Dr. Prabindra Maharjan, and Dr. Anand GC was involved in the surgery.
